Full Job Description

Required for September 2024, a well-qualified teacher of science to join an established, committed and supportive team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of Science to join our team. We are seeking someone who can share their passion for Science to our pupils and inspire all to have a love of Science. The Science Department is an experienced and committed team of professionals who achieve good results. We value challenge, active participation and motivation. The department is a positive, high achieving, forward thinking department who believes that every child can achieve in Science.

A specialism in Chemistry is desirable, however the successful candidate will be expected to teach all three areas of Science across the ability and age range.

This post offers an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to be part of an exciting school community. In our most recent Ofsted inspection (November 2023), we were delighted to achieve 'Good' in all areas, with Ofsted recognising that our "pupils feel happy, safe and valued at this welcoming school. They enjoy a calm and respectful environment that helps them to study and learn. Pupils and staff are immensely proud of the improvements made to the school in recent years".

The post would suit an ambitious teacher seeking a stimulating, supportive working environment. The teacher appointed will be an excellent practitioner, able to engage and challenge pupils to enable them to achieve their best. You will ensure that the highest possible standards in the faculty are met and that all pupils reach their full potential. The successful candidate must be able to: establish good relationships with pupils to inspire learning; promote interest in the subjects and ensure high achievement; be able to work well with colleagues in the department and across the school; have commitment and initiative and a 'can do' approach, willing to make a contribution to the catholic life of the school and ensure all our pupils achieve the best possible outcomes.

Christ the King Catholic High School is a mixed 11-19 school in Southport and we are a school community underpinned by Gospel values and principles. It is our core purpose to prepare our young people for the exciting challenges and opportunities ahead. Our curriculum inspires a lifelong passion for learning and equips our pupils with confidence, skills, and attitude to lead successful and fulfilling lives. Closing date for all applications is midday on Friday 10th May 2024 and interviews will take place on Friday 17th May 2024. Please go to our school website to access and complete the CES application form and supplementary forms on the vacancy page at www.christtheking-school.com. Supporting statements, no more than two sides of A4, should also be completed to address your suitability for the role. Please submit all applications to Miss Denner at the e-mail below.

Due to the nature of the work, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully-enhanced DBS.
