Full Job Description

Torbay Hospital has an exciting opportunity to recruit a team of ophthalmic theatre practitioners / staff / ODPs having successfully bid for additional day case theatres which is now operational. One of these new theatres is a dedicated ophthalmology theatre which has created a second full time theatre for the service to serve the population of Torbay and South Devon.
We are recruiting now to provide full training so that all staff are fully trained, competent and confident for the on going support of the second theatre., The job involves preparation of the theatre, ensuring the cleanliness of the environment and equipment, working in the theatre environment, and supporting qualified staff to provide excellent care to all patients. Good communication skills and a willingness to learn are essential.
This role also involves transiting patients from theatre to Eye Surgery unit.

Job Includes:
+ Communicate with patients and members of staff, including managers, nurses, ODPs, support and medical staff to ensure the continuity of patient care
+ To co-operate with other departments in procedures carried out in the operating department
+ Follow Health and Safety regulations in order to maintain a safe working environment
+ Awareness of cost implications and the effective use of resources
+ To assist in the induction of new members of staff and students to the
department

The Ophthalmic Theatre is looking for a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker who want to make a difference and become part of a highly motivated team. We will consider applications for full time with a commitment to our out of hours on call service, which is part of the role
