Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Operational Support Officers to join the North East Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub which supports Bowel Cancer Screening Services for a population of 8.85 million.

As a competent administrator and supervisor the post holder will support the Bowel Cancer Screening Management Team in leading and managing the day-to-day co-ordination of the team, duties will include staff supervision and co-ordination of all Hub Functions, which includes liaison with screening centres, analytical testing and reporting of returned faecal samples, acting as a point of contact on the national Freephone helpline, as well as helping in the significant quantities of outgoing mail (invitations, reminders, test packs and results) using bespoke software and complex mailroom equipment as part of the call and re-call of the national programme.

As Operational Support Officer the post holder will support the expanding scope of services the North East Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub provides, including Lynch surveillance, BCSP age extension, projects that support equity of access, and new research and development initiatives. The post holder will also play an important role in the monitoring of processes within the BCSP to ensure the Hub maintains high standards which are compliant with both the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and the Screening Quality Assurance Service (SQAS)., The post-holder will work as part of the integrated administrative and laboratory based team, working to meet the national targets and standards set by the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (NHS BCSP).

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.
