Full Job Description

  • Reviewing, reporting and setting reserves and strategy on new instructions:

  • o Completing an initial review file note
    o Identifying any technical issues with the file and handling appropriately
    o Valuing general and special damages on all cases and setting negotiation parameters where needed.
    o Filing AoS
    o Preparing brief to Counsel
    o Completing MI requirements for each client
  • Organising, prioritising and handling own workload in line with standard operating procedures to ensure that critical dates are met and KPI's and SLA's are achieved.

  • Effective management of the litigation process to ensure KPI's and SLA's are achieved:

  • o Drafting and issuing of court documents including AoS', consent orders and occasionally with support, witness statements and certain applications.
    o Adherence to Court timetables
    o Negotiation of quantum on appropriate cases
  • Effective use of the case management system to ensure:

  • o Reserving and all other key information is accurate and updated in a timely manner.
    o Critical dates are met
    o All actions/strategies are documented by way of a file note
    o All documents in the history are clearly labelled.
  • Delivering quality work, as a minimum meeting audit benchmark standards.

  • Driving own personal development.

  • Contributes to team effort by working collaboratively to ensure that team targets are achieved and by positively contributing to team morale.

  • To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations

  • Working Hours:
    35 hours per week. Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. This role is based in the Bolton office and will be working 1 day in the office and 4 days from home.

  • Good knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules Part 8, PD8 relating to MOJ and Infant Approval Process.

  • Experience of valuing general and special damages utilising a variety of tools including JC Guidelines and case law.

  • Preferably experience of quantum negotiations.

  • Demonstrate experience of and the ability to:

  • o Work to set deadlines.
    o Deal with calls and enquiries from customers, suppliers and/or the public
    o Organise and prioritise their workload
    o Work as part of a team
  • IT literate: proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages (Excel and Word)

  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Ability to take constructive feedback and set personal goals for continuous improvement.
