Full Job Description

Independent Living Advisors (ILA's) - Direct Payments/Self-Directed Support

Full time & Part time hours available, up to 35 hours.

An exciting opportunity has arisen, for the right people, to join our existing team as part of the Lancashire Independent Living Advice Service (LILS).

LILS is part of a consortium between Disability Equality NW and Disability Positive (formerly Cheshire Centre for Independent Living) providing information, advice and payroll services across Lancashire for those who have chosen to manage their own care using a personal budget from Lancashire County Council.

You will be responsible for providing initial set up and on-going information, advice and support - often in clients' homes and over the telephone - to enable people in receipt of a direct payment from Lancashire County Council to use their budget to best meet their assessed care needs.

  • You will require excellent listening, communication and IT skills.

  • You should have experience and skills to manage client caseloads.

  • You will also need to demonstrate an up to date knowledge and understanding of the day-to-day issues and barriers disabled people face.

  • You will need knowledge/experience of current social care delivery.

  • You will need to be organised and self-motivated.

  • Previous experience of working in the social care or related sector is desirable.

Fixed term contract until August 2026 with a possible extension.
(Continuation subject to performance and funding)

Salary: £21'605.67 rising to £24'000.67 on successful completion of a 6 month probationary period.

Applicants must be flexible and able to travel independently across Lancashire.
