Full Job Description

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for business partnering with wagamama and providing advice and support to the two other business divisions and group functions within TRG.
Specific areas of focus will be commercial contracts, supporting technology contracts and matters, marketing and consumer law, and supporting the Privacy Officer.,

  • Provide timely, accurate and commercially focussed legal advice in connection with the business of wagamama, and more broadly TRG

  • Business partnering closely with the Wagamama executive team, directors and heads of departments

  • Advise TRG on data protection and UK GDPR compliance.

  • Review, draft and assist with the negotiation of commercial contracts including IT, procurement, franchise agreements, marketing and business development contracts, M&A and structuring of commercial relationships.

  • Ensure that key terms of executed contracts are communicated to all personnel responsible for the performance and administration of those contracts.

  • Oversight of key precedents and templates for the business including negotiation guidelines, approval and signing procedures and contract databases.

  • Advise on intellectual property matters and business-related disputes and litigation.

  • Within your scope of influence, ensure the Group complies with all applicable laws and policies.

  • Contribute to the development of legal training programmes and deliver legal training and otherwise develop knowledge of legal risks within the business.

  • Stay up-to-date with regulations, laws and standards affecting the restaurant and franchising industry.

  • Manage the Company's relationships with external law firms to ensure they provide high quality services at reasonable c

    Qualified solicitor with 5+ years PQE.

  • Proven experience in providing high calibre corporate / commercial legal support.

  • Experience of partnering with commercially orientated senior leaders

  • Drafting and negotiating experience is essential.

  • Experience of an in-house legal environment is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge & experience of data protection (incl. GDPR).

  • Experience working within the hospitality sector, with operational teams or with suppliers, distributors, service providers within the food, beverage, or hospitality industry would be a benefit.
