Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Housing Disrepair Case Handler to join our team. As a Case Handler, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of housing disrepair claims, assisting tenants in seeking remedies for issues such as dampness, mold, infestations, and structural defects.,

  • Manage a caseload of housing disrepair claims, from initial client contact to resolution, ensuring timely progress and effective communication with clients.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of property defects, liaising with relevant parties such as landlords, property managers, and contractors.

  • Negotiate settlements and compensation on behalf of clients, advocating for fair outcomes and ensuring that clients receive appropriate remedies for their housing issues.

  • Draft legal documents, including letters of claim, court proceedings, and settlement agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.

  • Attend court hearings and case management conferences as required, representing clients' interests and presenting evidence in support of their claims.

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients, explaining their rights and options under housing disrepair legislation.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using the firm's case management system, ensuring that all relevant information is documented and accessible.

  • Keep abreast of changes in housing law and regulations, staying informed about developments that may impact clients' cases.

    Previous experience working as a Housing Disrepair Case Handler or similar role within a legal firm.

  • Strong knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and procedures, with experience handling a variety of disrepair claims.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.

  • Experience using case management systems, such as [insert relevant systems].

  • Legal qualifications (e.g., LLB, LPC) are preferred but not essential.
