Full Job Description
To oversee the development, upkeep and sustainability of all of the outdoor spaces at the William Sutton Wellbeing Hubs, with responsibility for a delivering a program of men's activities, including project management, H&S, partnerships, managing beneficiaries, volunteers and environmental impact., Project delivery and sustainability:
- To coordinate, plan, risk assess and deliver a range of outdoor sessions.
- To deliver at least 2 x weekly Growing /other activity sessions for men.
- To assist with the implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems and reporting.
- To undertake moderate to heavy physical work, outside, in all weathers and to support beneficiaries to do the same in a safe manner.
- To train and support beneficiaries to undertake a wide range of gardening and associated maintenance tasks using basic hand and gardening tools.
- To ensure activities are undertaken with due regard to Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and our Equality and diversity Policy.
- To explore opportunities to support future funding and sustainability of the activities and post.
Community engagement and wellbeing :
- To coordinate, supervise, train and support beneficiaries to participate in Growing Wellbeing sessions thereby enabling them to improve their general health and wellbeing.
- To work closely with other organisations and community groups to engage a wide range of men to the project, particularly those identified as being most in need, and to recruit, induct and support them to participate in the sessions.
- To develop a network of contacts and liaise with referral organisations, local service providers, GPs and care professionals to ensure that as wide a range of local people as possible engage with, and benefit from, the sessions.
- To identify coordinate and deliver 4 volunteer open days throughout the year and attend promotional events where appropriate.
- To support attendees of the project to produce plants, vegetable, and other products to sell in support of the local community.
- To facilitate and record monthly "Men's Voices" sessions with the group to move the project forwards.
- To ensure that the project is a safe and welcoming environment.
- Educated to GCSE level
- IT Literate
- Good standard of general education
- Previous Experience in Horticulture/Gardening/Landscaping
- Experience in working outdoors in all weather
- Experience of working with people from all backgrounds including those with poor mental health and challenging behaviour
- Experience of working with, training and supporting volunteers and facilitating community participation
- Experience of working to budgets
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise workload
- Ability to keep records and undertake administrative tasks such as risk assessments, monitoring and evaluation and reports etc.
- Ability to supervise, support & coordinate volunteers and people on placements
- Hands on practical skills relating to all gardening and growing activities/tasks at the William Sutton Hubs
- Physically fit and able to carry out physical duties related to this role
