Full Job Description

Undertake general gardening maintenance to hard and soft landscaped areas owned or rented by Care in Mind, including lawn mowing and seasonal treatments, hedge trimming, weeding, trimming and pruning of shrubs, litter picking, clearing leaves and, sweeping and garden clearances.

Soft landscaping construction work including - renewal and development of borders including sourcing and planting new trees / shrubs where required, pest and disease control, lawn maintenance including scarification, aeration, moss treatment and feeding where needed as well as mowing and edging and turfing when required.

Power washing, gritting and other tasks to maximise safety related to adverse weather conditions and minimising slippery surfaces related to moss / algae growth etc.

Respond flexibly to any necessary changes in work priorities and undertake other duties when required to support the effective operation of the services.

During winter months, to be able to support the field team with other duties e.g. painting and general building maintenance transporting of household items, furniture removals.

Communicate effectively with the department manager and colleagues.

Work collaboratively and flexibly across all of the homes within Care in Mind.

Communicate with external contractors where necessary.

Flexibility to travel using company vehicle across all sites in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Wirral.

Solve problems in a safe manner and escalate any necessary issue to the department manager.

To maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with the agreed policy.

To follow health and safety guidelines carefully and alert your manager immediately of any concerns relating to health and safety issues.

  • Environmental services/grounds maintenance experience.

  • Customer focused with excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to undertake manual work.

  • Excellent team player who can work flexibly to meet business. requirements.

  • Hold a current, clean and valid UK driving licence.

  • Be willing to travel to all sites within the Care in Mind portfolio.


  • Desirable Criteria
  • Successful Completion of a horticultural course.

  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office
