Full Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate psychological therapist to join us at Middlesbrough adult mental health community team. The post would suit an enthusiastic, passionate person, valuing the opportunity to work collaboratively with members of a well-established multi-disciplinary team, where psychology is a core treatment offer. A key part of this role will be using clinical leadership skills to influence teams to embed formulations, psychological understanding and interventions in everyday practice.

As a service, we are keen to support and invest in the ongoing development of our psychology professions staff through CPD opportunities.

In addition to being part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team, Middlesbrough service offers the opportunity to be part of a growing psychology team. Consisting of applied psychologists, psychological therapists and higher assistant psychologists, there is significant diversity in approach, however, all within the ethos of a trauma informed compassion focused framework. The department has strong links with the Teesside Doctoral training course with regular opportunities to work with core, specialist and research trainees.

As a service we are responsive to the wellbeing of our psychology team, and place a strong emphasis on self-care and supporting one another. This means there are clear job plans and people are encouraged to maintain a work/ life balance. We pride ourselves in building a positive working atmosphere.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working psychologically with people who experience severe mental health problems including competencies in evidence based psychological therapy and experience in multi-disciplinary working.

Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for further detailed information to ensure that you meet the role criteria before applying.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

We will provide excellent opportunities for peer support/supervision, CPD, teaching/training, and research and audit in line with strategic developments.

There are also strong links to local Higher Education Institutions as we are key providers of academic and clinical experience components both in terms of teaching and supervision.
