At Natural Event Europe Ltd. we are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and reliable Truck Driver/Site Crew Team Member to join our team. This job involves two roles, due to us being a medium sized company, we only have a certain amount of need for HGV Driving and cannot offer the same amount of HGV hours every week. This role would suit someone who is keen to get their hands stuck into some crewing to top up their hours.

Natural Event is an international company based in Somerset. We provide compost toilets at Festivals across Europe including Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown Fair, Beat-Herder and Kendal Calling.

We are looking for people to join our local teams in Somerset and Winchester.

We operate throughout the season, from June through to September. Shifts may vary depending on responsibilities. Site Crew Team Member averages at 10 hours per day and HGV Driver averages at 8-9 hours a day, both 5 days per week.

Our work is based on the festival sites, so personal camping gear or a live-in vehicle is needed. A level of self-sufficiency is also an advantage., Your day-to-day duties include:

  • Long-distance driving

  • Communicating and coordinating with key personnel

  • Obeying and following applicable traffic laws

  • Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle

  • Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with GB Domestic Rules

  • Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving

  • Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules

  • Complying with truck driving rules and regulations

  • Reporting defects, accidents and violations

  • Performing daily maintenance of truck/s (refuelling, cleaning, etc.)

  • Loading and unloading box trucks with forklifts and telehandlers

  • Interacting with customers in a professional manner

  • Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports

  • Recording cargo deliveries

  • Verifying loads for accuracy

  • Assembling, maintaining and disassembling flat pack compost toilets

  • Cleaning toilets and components for a sanitary pack down in accordance with our cleaning procedures and health and safety policy

  • Installing and maintaining plumbing and monitoring liquid levels during operation to ensure a good working system for the drainage from toilet units

  • Changing toilet 'solids' receptacle when required, and assisting in the collection of solid material for transfer to composting facility

  • Assisting in packing equipment and materials for dispatch to events


  • You'll report to the Company Director, Site Manager and/or Logistics Manager.

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding how often you are required to rest and take breaks

  • Knowledge of vehicle and public safety and security

  • Concentration skills for staying focused while driving

  • Customer service skills

  • The ability to organise your time and workload

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Physical skills like lifting, bending and carrying

  • Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits

  • The ability to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device

  • Good hand-eye coordination, since they must coordinate their hands, legs and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time on the roads

  • Motivated, organised, and able to work well within a team

  • Competent with time management applications - we use Deputy for clocking in/out and recording daily duties performed

  • Good at implementing a healthy work/life balance in a festival environment

  • Capable to undertake any other duties as deemed necessary to assist in the day to day running

  • Able to be part of a fast moving, high energy team, supporting each other on every shift

  • Confident in using your initiative when needed, You must have a HGV Driving License and a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).


  • A full clean driving license is essential. A telehandler license is preferred but not essential.
