gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to work at their facility based near Hawarden

Performance Objectives

  • Understanding the needs and expectations of relevant interested parties

  • Implementing and maintaining appropriate policies and procedures in line with legal and other requirements

  • Defining and communicating HSE roles and responsibilities

  • Ensuring that an appropriate level of consultation with workers takes place

  • Identifying workplace HSE hazards and conducting suitable and sufficient risk assessments

  • Identifying and implementing control measures to either eliminate risks or to reduce them as far as is reasonably practicable

  • Maintaining an excellent understanding of current HSE legal and other requirements

  • Ensuring that each year, the company has a set of documented HSE objectives and supporting action plans aimed at continually improving HSE performance based on key business risks and opportunities

  • Implementing and maintaining processes to ensure that workers are competent on the basis of appropriate education, training or experience

  • Ensuring effective communication in relation to HSE management both internally and externally

  • Maintaining an effective document control system

  • Ensuring that appropriate change management procedures are followed with due consideration of HSE hazards

  • Ensuring that suppliers of goods and services are vetted appropriately in relation to HSE management and that systems are in place to ensure that all persons working on behalf of the company are competent to undertake the tasks assigned to them

  • Ensuring that systems are in place to prompt anyone procuring goods and services to consider HSE hazards prior to placing orders

  • Implementing, maintaining, testing and reviewing emergency response procedures

  • Monitoring and measuring the HSE performance of the company

  • Periodically evaluating compliance with legal and other requirements

  • Maintaining an effective internal EHS audit and inspection programme, taking into account risk levels and the results of previous audits and inspections

  • Maintaining an effective system for reporting and investigating non-conformances and accidents/incidents and managing corrective actions through to completion

  • Reporting on the performance of the EHS management system to the Senior Management Team

    Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH, NCRQ, NVQ)

  • Certified member of IOSH or chartered member of IOSH

  • At least 5 years working in a similar role within a heavy manufacturing environment

  • A thorough working knowledge of LOLER and PUWER Regulations

  • ISO audits (conducting internal audits and dealing with external auditors)


  • Desirable experience:
  • Previous experience in a HSE role off-shore (oil and gas or wind farm) would be highly desirable
