Head of Design and Technology

George Salter Academy is a happy and vibrant 11-18 academy, serving a multi-cultural community in the heart of West Bromwich and we are looking for a motivated and inspiring individual to lead our Design and Technology department from September 2024 (MPS/UPS + TLR 2b).

The role is suitable for both existing Heads of Department and those looking to step into leadership. The successful candidate will actively and positively promote Design and Technology across key stages 3 and 4, whilst ensuring the development of teaching practices of others within the department.

Our KS3 consists of a ½ yearly rotation with weekly double lessons (1hr 40mins) and KS4 students receive 3 lessons per week, following either the Cambridge National in Engineering Design course or the GCSE Design and Technology course. The department has 2 fully equipped workshops, receives a healthy budget and is well equipped and supported by leadership.
