Full Job Description

We are looking for committed volunteers to join our Governing Body and help shape the strategic direction of the College, ensuring its educational provision remains appropriate to the needs of its students and wider community., These voluntary roles offer excellent opportunities for personal and professional development. Governors receive a full induction programme, tailored to your specific needs, and access to ongoing training and development opportunities. In return, you would be expected to attend four full Governing Body meetings throughout the year, three or four committee meetings, and the annual strategic planning session. There would also be opportunities for you to get involved in College life by attending events such as our Culture Day and celebration services.

The Governing Body welcomes applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds - people who can contribute their professional and specialist skills as well as their lived experience. We are keen to recruit a diverse board with a mix of skills and perspectives to ensure effective governance, supportive challenge, sound decision-making and membership that reflects the wider College community.

We are currently seeking applications in particular from individuals with a professional background in finance, accountancy and/or audit, HR and legal.

Carmel College is a high-performing Catholic Sixth Form College in St Helens, Merseyside well known for its delivery of quality education to over 2,000 students. The College offers a range of high quality A Level, BTEC, T Level and Foundation Learning courses as well as a number of foundation year degree programmes in association with higher education institutions.
