Full Job Description

Responsible for the planning and delivery of the Fixed Wire Testing programme of works and covering initial verification of other works for electrical test certifications.

To supervise service delivery, and team/individual performance within the Fixed Wire Testing Team acting as a first escalation contact for client and employee issue.

Main duties

Core Duties

  • To be the main operational and technical point of contact between Mitie and the Client for electrical periodic testing and inspection and related remedial works. Delivering on time, efficiently and to the required standard.

  • Attend regular client and management meetings to provide updates and reporting.

  • Provide monthly report information for inclusion in Monthly Operations report issued to the client.

  • Arrange and carry out stakeholders to plan and organise works.

  • Prepare risk assessments and collate work packs in a timely manner to ensure works are undertaken safely.

  • Liaise with building managers to plan shutdowns and testing with minimal impact to client operations.

  • Ensure all test equipment is functioning correctly and calibrated. Carry out monthly audits on test equipment to ensure in good working order.

  • Upon completion of buildings peer review and sign as supervisor completed electrical test sheets ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Issue electrical test certificates and ensure the test record spreadsheet is kept up to date and put copy of test sheets in Fixed Wire Testing folder on shared drive.

  • Log remedial works on Archibus with planner to ensure visibility of works carried out.

  • Order materials highlighted as remedial works by the FWT team.

  • Take a proactive approach to customer care, resolving day to day issues and escalating where required.

  • Effectively and efficiently manage resources ensuring teams have the materials, equipment, capability and capacity to deliver.

  • Take a proactive approach to driving continual improvement through innovation to improve quality, efficiency and process.

  • To report all incidents, accidents and near misses including non-compliant or unsafe conditions at the earliest opportunity.

  • To carry out regular task audits to provide safety and quality assurance.

  • Carry out investigations and provide findings as required.

  • To coach, mentor and develop team members to reach their full potential including support to those who under perform.

  • Ensure adequate pre job briefs, supervision arrangements, workface inspections, quality assurance and LFE is completed throughout team operations.

  • To ensure all subcontractors engaged to deliver services are managed in accordance with Mitie and client procedures.

  • To proactively engage with the team to brief, consult and obtain feedback, addressing concerns and resolving issues.

  • Ensure the team are suitably trained and competent including any SQEP assessment are in place and any gaps in learning are resolved.

  • To assist management with all reasonable requests and undertake additional duties in line with capabilities.


  • Person Specification

    Experience & Qualifications

  • 2391 or 2392 City & Guilds qualification


  • Experienced in preparing Risk Assessments & work packs.


  • Supervisory experience


  • Preferably (not essential) NIC EIC Qualified Supervisor


  • Additional Skills

  • Must have the ability to liaise with client representatives and management professionally.


  • Be able to organise work and liaise with operational teams to deliver


  • Good general knowledge of health and safety, facilities services, and operational practices would be advantageous.


  • Good time management skills


  • Computer literacy is desirable.

    2391 or 2392 City & Guilds qualification
