Strong Driving Record
Since you will be regularly driving a vehicle during a large portion of your shift, you should have a strong driving record with little to no legal traffic citations. Drivers are expected to obey every traffic law while they are working to get themselves and the items they're transporting safely to the desired destination. This Job involves towing trailers, you will need the correct license and preferably have experience of towing.
Navigation
Being a driver requires stopping at multiple destinations to unload and collect items. To ensure you're delivering and collecting everything on time, you should have strong navigation skills that keep you from getting lost on your route. You will need to easily adapt to locating new or unfamiliar areas using a natural sense of direction or satellite navigation.
Basic Maintenance Knowledge
Trucks or other delivery vehicles may break down or have issues functioning properly during a driver's shift. It may be beneficial for you to have at least a basic maintenance knowledge to fix any simple mechanical problems that may occur unexpectedly.

Physical Fitness and Strength

Being a driver, especially a delivery driver, can require many hours of moving in and out of your truck to load and unload items every day. You will be expected to have effective physical fitness and strength to exit the vehicle and lift items for multiple hours.

Efficiency and Time-Management

Driving requires stopping to drop off items at a specific location each day. You will often have a strict schedule to follow to ensure that each item arrives at its destination in a timely manner. You will be required to be efficient and possess strong time-management skills to ensure you complete all tasks on time.

Problem-Solving

Since drivers usually work independently, you are often responsible for resolving any problems that may occur on the job. If a road is closed or your vehicle has a flat tire, you must decide how to solve the issue quickly and logically. You must be able to adjust to certain situations by solving problems and thinking critically.

Concentration

A driver needs to have a strong concentration when delivering and transporting items. You should be attentive and alert in case unexpected hazards are found on the road or to avoid any other cars from crashing into the vehicle. Your eyes should be on the road at all times and ready for any obstacles. This can be done by keeping yourself away from any distractions while driving.
