Full Job Description

0-5 hours / month or 1-3 hours / week Attendance at Trustee meetings (4 per annum) and AGM with pre-reading and progressing actions where relevant. Approximately 7 to 10 hours per month., To develop 52nd Epping Forest South Scout Group in keeping with its charitable objectives and in the parameters of good governance.

Some key responsibilities are as follows:

1. Developing and reviewing strategic aims consider the organisation as a whole, including its subsidiary companies, and its members.

  • reflect our vision, strategy, major policies and values at all times.


  • 2. Ensuring policies and practices are in keeping with aims
  • attend meetings of the Trustee Board (normally 4 per year and an AGM) & additional committees as appropriate.

  • assist in the implementation of our strategic goals, monitor and evaluate performance against strategic aims.


  • 3. Exercise effective control and ensure best practice
  • work effectively as a team member of the Trustee Board in exercising its responsibilities and functions., Available and willing to attend 4 weekend Board meetings per year and commitment to attend designated committees/working groups reporting to the Board (prior notice is given for all Board and Committee dates).


  • Although we are keen to appoint local Trustees where possible we will also consider applicants from further afield if they would be able to attend the Annual General Meeting in person.

    We are keen to appoint Trustees that will ensure we continue to represent the voice of our young people and the rich diversity of the Group at Board level so please do apply if you think you have something positive to offer.

    Trustees play a key part in Scouts, and keep an eye on our vision. They make sure young people have the best experience at Scouts, and check things are being done safely and legally. Trustees are a team of volunteers who see the big picture, make decisions, and work together to help Scouts run smoothly.

    Trustees appointed to the Board for the 52nd Epping Forest South Scout Group will ensure the ongoing effective and safe running of our successful Group in line with relevant regulations. This may involve developing and implementing frameworks and appropriate oversight activities necessary for the effective running of an active group.
