Full Job Description

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is a non-departmental public body created through the Energy Act 2004.
We have 5 offices across the UK, in Cumbria, Dounreay, Harwell, Warrington and London. We have 17 sites including the first fleet of nuclear power stations, research centres, fuel-related facilities, and Sellafield, which has the largest radioactive inventory and the most complex facilities to decommission.
We are sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and supported by Dounreay, Magnox, Nuclear Waste Services, Nuclear Transport Solutions and Sellafield. The Scottish government also has a governance role, working closely with DESNZ to ensure its expectations are met.
Our role is strategic: we establish the overall approach, allocate budgets, set targets and monitor progress.
We do not have a hands-on role in cleaning up our facilities. Instead, we deliver our mission through others, primarily 12 businesses.
We are responsible for:
+ decommissioning and cleaning up these nuclear facilities ensuring that all waste products, both radioactive and non-radioactive, are safely managed.
+ implementing policy on the long-term management of nuclear waste.
+ developing UK-wide strategy and plans for nuclear Low Level Waste (LLW).
+ scrutinising the decommissioning plans of EDF Energy, who own the operating fleet of Advanced Gas Cooled Reactor (AGR) nuclear power stations., Working as part of the NDA's communications & stakeholder relations function, the Communications Co-Ordinator will help with coordinating and drafting communications content for internal and external channels, organising events, drafting, and sharing online content and providing valuable support to the function.
As a Communications Coordinator your main responsibilities will be:
+ Providing support and guidance to colleagues across the NDA to understand their comms and engagement needs. Proactively questions to help resolve issues.
+ Identify appropriate communications channels and tactics for communications.
+ Developing and delivering communications and engagement project plans and monitoring progress and outcomes
+ Liaising with comms colleagues across the NDA group and coordinating communications activity
+ Support with planning and coordinating internal and external communications content across channels which support the NDA's communications objectives.
+ Support with the delivery of high-quality communications and engagement activities.
+ Research and drafting quality communications materials for use internally and externally
+ Support with managing the NDA's intranet and gov.uk website including drafting, posting, and editing content.
+ Creating and posting social media content for NDA corporate channels including videos and imagery.
+ Ensures all outputs consulted on for quality.
+ Resolve issues and detailed process questions internally or externally to NDA.
+ Help to support with staff events and regular engagements.
+ Administer a broad range of functional processes, procedures, tasks, and metrics, within key frameworks and systems, with a high degree of accuracy.
+ Support with media monitoring and disseminating news coverage for internal stakeholders.
+ The ideal candidate will have experience of producing accessible versions of communications materials, although training in this area can be offered.
+ Support internal communications and media team with BAU activities.

You'll have relevant experience in:
+ Ability to provide a solution orientated approach to communications.
+ Ability to manage and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
+ Previous experience in working in communications is desirable, but not essential.
+ Creativity and a passion for communications/engagement.
+ A team player and with a track record in building good relationships.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to influence and persuade.
+ Enthusiastic and results-driven, operating effectively at all levels to achieve results and add value.
+ Organised and logical approach to work as well is good attention to detail.
+ A broad knowledge of all the role requirements based on a mixture of training and work experience.
+ Experience of using Teams and Microsoft Office.
+ Comms experience over both internal and external channels
