Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join our inspirational ward team on Ward C9 which is a 22 bedded General Medicine in the Medicine for Older People department. The successful post holder will demonstrate strong leadership qualities and have a passion for improving the patient and relative experience in addition to having a sound clinical knowledge base. In addition to this, you will possess well developed communication skills that will be used to engage, inspire and motivate both staff and patients in the clinical area. Good time management skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritize your workload. The focus for the post holder will be in the following key areas: Provide nurse leadership, improvement, and management of services within this acute ward setting in order to ensure the highest standards of patient care and service are delivered in the most efficient and effective way. Be a confident role model for the junior nursing team. Ensure improvements in patient outcomes and the
safety, treating patients with dignity and respect. Ensure best practice in infection control. In conjunction with the Ward Manager ensure all quality improvement work is implemented and sustained. Ensure safe and effective discharge planning. Support the provision of a clean environment.,

  • Participate in the overall management of the ward including nights in conjunction with the Ward manager.

  • Support the Ward Manager in the education and training of ward staff.

  • In co-ordination with the Ward Manager promote delivery of high quality research based nursing care.

  • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of plans of care.

  • Responsible for promoting effective and efficient utilization of available resources.

  • To facilitate an environment conductive to learning and professional development.

  • Ensure that Trust policies and directives are adhered to at Ward level.

  • Act in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Code of Conduct (NMC)

  • Deputise for the Ward Manager as required., Participate in the overall management of the ward including nights in conjunction with the Ward manager.

  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of recent employment in nurse a preregistration student nurse area

  • Previous experience in speciality

  • Qualification in specialty to diploma/degree level, or willingness to undertake study, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
