Full Job Description

To assist with the provision of a cost effective surveying service, support design solutions to internal and external clients and to assist in developing and supporting the maintenance of surveying standards and work instructions that meet the clients needs.
1. To assist in providing a cost effective, fit for purpose and timely design and surveying service to internal and external clients.
2. To assist in the acquisition, interpretation and storage of all survey data to meet business objectives.
3. To assist in the maintenance, storage and calibration of survey equipment held within the integrated surveying and design team.
4. To assist in undertaking the required surveys to meet business objectives.
5. To assist with the preparation of CAD drawings based on collected survey data to meet business objectives.
6. To proactively participate as a member of an integrated surveying and design team in the delivery of projects.
7. To maintain liaison with internal and external stakeholders ensuring that surveys are completed to time.
8. To assist in the provision of professional survey input into the design and IDC process for allocated projects.
9. To assist in the preparation of site safety documentation for surveying activities in line with current standards and individual project requirements.

  • An ability to work and communicate effectively in a team context.

  • A working Knowledge of topographical surveying


  • Desirable
  • Working towards on ONC/OND in a relevant discipline

  • A Surveying degree or equivalent industry-recognised training qualification.

  • Membership of a relevant engineering professional institution.

  • A working knowledge of rail engineering; relevant successful experience working in the principal discipline and an adequate understanding of all other related disciplines.

  • Construction Design Management competence.

  • Full Driving Licence.
