Applications Engineering Leader

Reporting to the Vice President - The Applications Engineering Leader will be responsible for many aspects of the group's concept and estimating of new equipment and solutions to ensure the growth, competitiveness and profitability of our product solutions while mitigating the risk of each project and application. This individual will utilize a deep understanding of the wide range of labeling applications of BWIS and other complimentary BW products, along with our client's needs, to lead the C&E team in generating the optimal concepts and estimates.
This individual must build camaraderie and consistency amongst the Concept & Estimating function and assist with recruiting, training, and coaching team members on estimating and proposal generating tools and principles and facilitating change management across the organization.
Job Responsibilities

• Be a working leader


• Partner closely with the Commercial and Operations teams to, from a market-facing perspective, identify understand and apply our core competencies to the packaging market


• Help the development, communication, and implementation of effective estimating and proposal generation tools resulting in an efficient applications process and reduced lead-time for proposals


• Drive an environment of continuous improvement and provide organizational support and structure to lead sustainable reductions in engineering content (%) on sold products


• Spend significant time quoting and developing quoting tools.


• Lead, motivate, and develop the functional team on an ongoing basis, and provide direct feedback, counsel, and coaching to drive practices and processes and overall company performance


• Provide leadership and management expertise for the measurement and effectiveness within the C&E function, utilizing data and metrics to instill Engineering accountability


• Determine and define the range and risk profiles acceptable to our business through partnership with Sales, Product Managers and Operations.


• Engage with multi-functional partners and business leaders including those in operations, supply chain, sales


• Create an Applications Standards library


• All other duties as assigned
  
  10+ years related experience in a global company, with experience in Applications or Concepting.



• Demonstrated effective leadership(both direct and through influence


• A bachelor's degree in engineering or similar experience is desired


• Experience working in the Packaging Industry and with a sophisticated CRM system desired.
