Full Job Description

MOFs are rapidly emerging as a leading next-generation technology for energy efficient carbon capture. Whilst many fundamental temperature and pressure swing adsorption processes are well established, the integration of MOFs into these systems is relatively new, adding additional complexity and offering significant opportunity for process design and optimisation. As such, this role sits at the interface between end-users, engineering partners, and the Promethean R&D team. It exists to couple a deep understanding of the end-user's objectives, with appropriate MOF selection, and optimized design and process engineering, ultimately ensuring performance delivery against the intended decarbonization targets.

The successful candidate should be excited at the prospect of playing a central role in Promethean's mission to unleash the power of MOFs. They should recognise the need to work with intent and urgency in this rapidly evolving area, prioritising needs above wants, and appreciate the importance of effective teamwork and open communication when working in a small team., A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline, with PhD, post-doctoral or industrial experience considered an advantage.
Experience in the evaluation of solid sorbents (e.g. MOFs, zeolites, activated carbon) for gas separation applications, with experience in CCS and/or H2 storage considered an advantage.
Experience in the design and practical operation of gas separation processes, with experience in swing adsorption processes considered an advantage (e.g. PSA, VSA, VPSA, TSA).
Practical experience across a range of applicable experimental characterisation techniques, including breakthrough analysis (BTA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), powder X-ray diffraction (pXRD), surface area measurements, particle size analysis, and electron microscopy (SEM/TEM).
Experience working with external parties, including collaborators and customers, acting as both a technical consultant and a project leader.
A sound appreciation for the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) implications associated with the production, processing, and handling of hazardous materials.
An ability to proactively prioritise work across multiple projects within tight timelines, managing stakeholder expectations where appropriate.
An ability to effectively communicate technical results and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, through a variety of formats (written reports, presentations, etc.).
A willingness to travel, in support of conference or customer attendance (< 10% of time).
A right to work in the UK without restriction, as this role does not come with visa sponsorship
